Mike Burgess
Mike graduated from The University of North Texas with Bachelor of Music Degree. He Performed in the 2 O'Clock Lab Band and Studied improv with Rich Matteson and Dan Haerle.
As a member of The United States Military Academy Band at West Point (US Army Staff Sgt.) he performed as lead and jazz trombone with The Jazz Knghts. Mike Performed with Benny Goodman at Lincoln Center in New York City and also performed with the marching band element which included marching in the 1980 Presidential Inauguration in Washington, DC. Another little bit of information, which is unusual for a musician, Mike was Voted West Point Athlete of the Year (1982) amongst enlisted personel.
After his tour ended, Mike moved to the Dallas area and played with the Bill Tilllman Band (8 yrs). He also played lead trombone with The Collection Jazz Orchestra and was a featured soloist on the Collection's Pausa records release. He also played with The Dallas Cowboys Band for two seasons. He Performed on CBS' Records tour with Jane Russell and Connie Haines. For 20 years as a freelance musician, Mike has backed numerous acts including Frank Sinatra Jr., The Four Tops, Tom Scott, Lou Marini just to name a few.
If that wasn't enough, Mike toured nationally as Lead Trombonist with The Buddy Rich Band. He has also performed with Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney and Suzanne Somers including live radio and TV shows.
